Colorado Track and Trace: Colorado’s Marijuana Enforcement Division uses Metrc as the state tracking system used to manage cannabis activity across the distribution chain: cultivation, manufacturing, distribution. Canix does not work with dispensaries in Colorado.

As one of the first states to legalize marijuana, Colorado is a staple for best practices in farm management, marijuana regulations and state compliance. Many of the legislative and Metrc regulations were modeled from Colorado and the state continues to lead the way in forward thinking cannabis legislation. As states ease up on inter-state commerce you will find the cannabis products and inventory coming from Colorado to be right there with California in terms of quality.

Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division

The Marijuana Enforcement Division manages licensing within the state to a degree. While they are the governing body, local authorities decide on whether or not to allow cannabis businesses to operate in their jurisdiction. MED attempts to maintain a list of these locations and their stipulations for cannabis licenses.

At the Colorado Department of Revenue, the Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) oversees regulation and licensing of marijuana businesses for both the medical and retail marijuana, while the Taxation Division administers the retail marijuana sales tax and retail marijuana excise tax.
