Metrc API Changes: What You Need to Know
Metrc is in the process of modernizing its API system, moving from API v1 to their latest version, Metrc Connect (v2). This transition has critical implications for operators and integrators across the cannabis industry.
If you're using a Seed-to-Sale provider, Point of Sale (POS) system, or ERP, it’s essential to confirm that your integrator is fully compatible with Metrc Connect. For those who haven't made the switch, there could be major disruptions ahead. Here's what you need to know:
- Oregon API v1 Deprecation: December 31, 2024
- Maryland API v1 Deprecation: December 31, 2024
- Rhode Island API v1 Deprecation: February 28, 2025
- Michigan Metrc API v1 Deprecation: April 1, 2025
- D.C. Metrc API v1 Deprecation: May 1, 2025
You do not need to do anything. Canix is fully integrated with Metrc Connect, we've been integrated since March, and there's no action that you need to take.
If you're submitting directly to Metrc, on the Metrc website (i.e., not through the API) - you do not need to do anything. There is no change to the Metrc Website submissions.
Unfortunately, Metrc has not posted a list of integrators that are fully on Metrc Connect yet.
At Canix, we are unsure of which companies are integrated with Metrc Connect.
You should reach out to your integrator or provider and ensure that they are fully connected to Metrc Connect, as soon as possible, if you're in one of these states (Oregon, Maryland, Rhode Island, Michigan, D.C.)
